Back in June, I posted some pictures of my little container garden. Everything looked so neat and tidy at that point but today it looks like a jungle.
My tiny little cherry tomato plant has turned into this:
There are hundreds of tomatoes on this plant in various stages of ripeness.
The Genovese tomatoes are also starting to ripen:
Perhaps most impressive is what happened in my herb garden. The basil has taken on a life of it’s own:
The basil is in the top right of this bed. Everything was so nice and tidy when I planted it but now is so huge. I also received a nice bag of basil from the CSA this week so it looks like I’ll be making some pesto this weekend. I love having pesto in the freezer. It’s like having a nice little pop of summer in the middle of winter.
We’re also babysitting this little cutie this weekend. This is my friend’s dog Roo:
She loves to come hang out with her friends and I love having a little dog around for a change of pace. But today, we’re headed to the Boulder County Fair. We’ve lived here over 11 years and this is our first time going to the fair. My only excuse is that it’s usually beastly hot when the fair is going on but this year it’s not so bad. I love to check out all the animals, it takes me back to my farm girl roots. There are also spinning and weaving demonstrations going on today and I’m excited to check it out.
Whatever’s on for you this weekend, I hope it’s a great one!
