Malabrigo Arroyo

How is your holiday season going?  The week between Christmas and New Years is always my favorite part of the holidays.  All the stress and business of Christmas is over but it still feels very festive.  On Christmas Eve, Santa (or the Fedex man, if you prefer) showed up with a huge box of Arroyo from Malabrigo.  Oh, so exciting!

I first met this lovely yarn almost a year ago at TNNA.  Was it worth the wait?  Yes!  The base is very similar to Rios, a nice tight twist, 100% Superwash Merino. But it’s skinny!  And we love some skinny yarns around here.  It’s listed as a sport weight, with a gauge of 20-22 stitches per 4 inches on US needles 4-6.  I actually think it’s on the lighter side of sport and could also be used in projects calling for fingering weight yarn.

One of my favorite things is that they rolled out some new colors that are only available on this base, as well as continuing with classic favorites.  And, boy, are they gorgeous!

Here are a few of my favorites, from left to right, Glitter, Coffee Toffee, and Chispas.

And Jupiter, Prussia Blue and Plomo.

I might have stashed a bit of Jupiter for myself.  I really want to make Windward and I think it might be perfect in this yarn.   You can see all the colors here.

I hope you enjoy this new yarn as much as we do!
